BOARD of TRUSTEES MEETING • MAY 11, 2002
Attendance; Nancy Breef -Pilz; Chris Cormier Hayes; Leonard Epstein; Joseph Flynn; John Walgreen.
also present. Joe convened the meeting at 8:20 a.m, in the Certuse Room of the Mansfield Public Library.
Secretary's report Minutes of the April 6, 2002 meeting were not yet available.
Treasurers report Chris presented the Treasurer's Report which was approved.
Correspondence. Recent correspondence was reviewed.
Librarian's report The Librarians' Reports were reviewed and highlights discussed.

Friends wish list The wish list was reviewed. Janet noted the Friends continue to decline full funding of the stall water cooler.
Holds. The library is reinstating the local holds preference since the SIRSI system will now accommodate the function.
Sidewalk. Installation of the new sidewalk was discussed.
S off SOON. Janet reported a recent incident in which a patron was alarmingly irate over the absence of a particular title, causing some
concern for the desk personnel. Coincidentally, Janet will be attending a workshop May 23, "Dealing With the Difficult (ustomer."
Ftrewall. There has been some question over the library's need for a firewaii. It turns out to be necessary to prevent "hackers" from
accessing Town files through the library.
Microfiche reader. The library's reader is broken. The Assessor's Office has kindly offered the loan of an unused machine until the
library's reader is replaced.
SAI__-,,i S. Janet has accepted an invitation 10 join SAILS' board of directors.
Favorite author club. Janet described a program at the Holliston Library In which new books by designated authors are automatically
reserved for patrons. After discussion it was concluded that such a program in Mansfield would not he feasible because it is so labor intensive.
OLD BUSINESS
Budget 2003 The library's budget was passed.at Town Meeting as presented.
NEW BUSINESS
Director's evaluation, It was noted that Janet is due for an evaluation. The board will prepare Its assessment at the next meeting,
