BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING - DECEMBER 412010
Attendance: Chris Cormier - Hayes, Leonard Epstein, John Walgreen, and Director Janet Campbell.
Nancy and Joe were both traveling this week. Chris convened the meeting at 8:20 a.m.

Secretmw's report. Minutes of the November meeting were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's report. The treasurer's report for November was reviewed and approved.
Librarian's reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and details discussed.
OLD BUSINESS
FY 2012 budget. Janet has submitted the library's initial budget request for next year in accordance
with the December 1 due date. The total was $46,591 higher than two years ago, consisting mainly of
salaries and materials. It would be extremely helpful to replace Kris' position and to reinstate Sunday hours.
The increase will be needed to avoid having to request a waiver from the Board of Library Commissioners.
Janet noted this will be the third year with no staff raises.
Microfilm reader. The library has had a demo of a third microfilm reader and, after Mary's
reference research, Janet recommended and the board approved purchase of a Canon MS -300 together with a
dedicated computer, printer, and large format monitor, for a total cost of approximately $7,500 (which is the
least expensive of the three models considered).
NEW BUSINESS
LSTA grant. The library is applying for a $7,500 grant under the category "Libraries for Job -
Seekers." Four such grants, federally funded under the Library Services and Technology Act, will be
awarded and administered through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Gifts. Recent gifts were reviewed.
Next meeting. January 8, 2011. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15.
