Director Janet Campbell. Joe convened the meeting at 08:20 a.m.
Secretary's report. The secretary's reports for September, Novembef nd'beee%ibeirweFe
reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's report. Chris reported that the trustees' account has been moved from Merrill
Lynch to Fidelity, necessitated by Merrill Lynch's decision to end accounts such as ours. Initial
fees have been waived by Fidelity and the library's funds are in a cash reserves account. The
library will not have a specific account advisor since the account is self directed. The representative
who assisted Chris in making the transfer from Merrill Lynch has suggested the board consider the
Fidelity Fund Asset Manager 20% Fund which is comprised of 20% common stocks and 80%
bonds. It is relatively conservative and there are no fees for trades. The board tabled that decision
in order to discuss it with all members present, especially in view of John Walgreen's economics
expertise. Chris recommended and the board approved adding Nancy as an additional authorized
library representative to deal with the Fidelity account. Nancy will complete the appropriate
documentation and submit it to the company.
Librarians' reports. The librarians' reports were reviewed and highlights discussed.
Meeting room doors. Automatic doors have been installed in the meeting room. The
library's was $600 (less than the $1,000 which had been estimated and authorized.)
Crier. The library is being pressured to ship the old copier back to Philadelphia. It is
utterly worn out, having made 400,000 copies, and to do so would make no sense.
Sun Chronicle interview. An interview has been requested by the Sun Chronicle for Janet to
discuss technology issues relating to the library.
Interior painting. Several areas within the library are scheduled for painting.
OLD BUSINESS
Budget FY 2014. Janet reported no further information on next year's budget.
Zinio. The library's on -line magazine service is up and running.
Youth room rearrangement. The board discussed Joe's plans for rearrangement of the
youth room
NEW BUSINESS
New director procedure. The board approved the proposed advertisement which Janet will
post with Simmons, URI, and the BLC, as well as advertising in the Sun Chronicle. Joe will
establish a new gmail account for electronic submissions. The board approved Janet's
recommendations of Kitty and Cassie to serve as staff representatives on the search committee.
Gifts. Recent gifts were reviewed.
