Fair Housing Committee
Minutes
March 28, 1990
Present: Anne Alzapiedi, David Clemmey, Robert Naismith, Barbara
Orlando, Marilyn Powers, Nancy Surdel and Marguarite Brothers,
Executive Director of Mansfield Housing Authority as our guest.
1. Meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m.
2. Ms. Brothers was present to give the committee information about
Mansfield's affordable housing units. She will be attending a seminar
in April in regard to new EOCD regulations. Part of the new
regulations pertain to length of residency within the Commonwealth.
Individuals that have six months or more of residency will have
priority over individuals that have less than six months residency.
She gave a packet of information to Barbara Orlando re: NAACP suit on
discrimination. She also gave the committee statistics on the
individuals that are on the waiting list for housing in Mansfield.
3. A short discussion of the Mansfield Meadows proposal followed.
Several members will be attending the Board of Selectman's meeting as
their position statement is on the agenda. A list of the EOCD
percentage of affordable housing units was distributed to members.
Anne Alzapiedi said that the MHFA will be making their decision on
Mansfield Meadows on April 10, 1990.
. Minutes of March 14, 1990 were accepted as printed by
Powers / Surdel.
5. Barbara said that she met with Ed Deusser, Curriculum Director at
Qualters Middle School, in regard to the poster contest. He seemed
receptive to the idea and Barbara will be in contact with him on April
2, 1990.
Meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 4, 1990 at 6:15pm.
