Meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. 2. Minutes from May 22, 1991 were acceted, with one correction, Powers / Surdel. The minutes were corrected as follows. David Clemmey noted that the statement "Section 8 housing vouchers from outside the area can be denied by the local housing authority" (as recorded in the minutes) was factually incorrect. David clarified that a Housing Authority can refuse to administer vouchers from other authorities, but they can not deny them. 3. Shaun Burke has received fair housing documents from the previous fair housing director. Shaun stated that the Town of Mansfield is on a conditional compliance list at MCAD and the acceptance of the Fair Housing Plan could change our status, which would be good for the Town. Shaun will be contacting Franklin Young at MCAD to check on the status of the Fair Housing Plan. (Has it been received by MCAD ?, Accepted ?) 4. Shaun mentioned that the 1990 Census figures are being questioned as incorrect and may need to be re- calculated. 5. Shaun will be contacting William Spaner, of Community Development in Attleboro, as a possible speaker at a future meeting. Mr. Spaner would speak about Section 8 Rehab Grant funds. Shaun said that due to the recession, there are fewer grant funds available, but if some new grants were to become available the town should aggressively pursue them. It was noted that grant funds can also be used to staff programs. 6. A municipal building re -use study will soon be undertaken and it may be possible for the Fair Housing Committee to work with the housing partnership (Board of Selectman) to do a re -hab project. 7. The selectman will be interviewing a candidate tonight for the opening on the Fair Housing committee. Meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m. The next meeting was not scheduled.
