1. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.
2. Minutes of the Recreation Commission Meeting from March 21, 2012.

Motion: By Mitch Bregnard to approve the Recreation Commission Meeting minutes
from March 21, 2012 as written. Seconded by Ed Westhaver.
Motion passes, 4 -0.
3. Questions & Comments:
None.
4. Field Maintenance Discussion- Mark Cook
Basketball nets are in.
- Scheduled to repair cracked rims.
- Kevin Kemp states there is money in the basketball account for repairs if additional
maintenance is necessary.
- Removal of graffiti at Memorial Park.
- Replace volleyball nets.
- Replace shingles on Hornets' Nest.
- Repair fencing at the skate park.
- Walter Wilk requests permanent electricity be installed at the softball field.
- The upper field is in poor shape and is in need of maintenance and seeding.
- Kevin Kemp states there is money available for the repair and maintenance of the Upper
Field.
- Ed Westhaver suggests football play at Hutchason Field for the season.
- Kevin Kemp requests obtaining a price for the deep tiring and aeration of both the Upper
Field and Hutchason Field.
- Kevin Kemp requests the divots and low spots be filled at Hutchason.
- Kevin Kemp questions the location of the shed at the HS turf field.
- Mark Cook agrees to speak with Walter Parker regarding possibly relocating the shed.
- DPW is scheduled to overlay reclaimed asphalt on the road surface at Plymouth Street to
cut down on the dust. Kevin Kemp requests adding a couple of speed bumps.
5. FacilityReauests:
The Commission discuss field reservation requests and permitting as follows:
- MMAS has requested use of Fulton's Pond for Shakespeare in the Park, August 5- 18,
8:00- 10:00pm. There will be no charge, but donations will be accepted.
- A resident has requested use of the South Common for a birthday party in June, more
details to follow.
- Lorilee has requested the Girls Softball schedule.
- Turf field use is currently paid in full.
6. Old Business:
The Youth Baseball contract was submitted to the Commission members for review
and approval. Legal Counsel is in the process of review and will advise the
Commission on the legalities of the contract.
7. New Business:
A. Two tennis backboards will be purchased at a cost of $1,200.00.
B. Jim Leaverton will charge $50.00 per use for the lights at the Plymouth Street turf field.
C. The Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
D. The Duck Race is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27,
F. Ongoing registration for all spring/summer programs.
F. Summer Camp registration is ongoing with counselor interviews scheduled for mid -May.
G. The Turf Maintenance account balance is $9,195.00.
H. We have received a $1,500.00 grant for the continuation and finalization of cemetery
documentation.
8. Next Commission Meetine: Tuesday, May 22, 2012 6:00 PM.
To be held at the Town Hall.
9. Motion: By Mitch Bregnard to adjourn. Seconded by Paul Mordarki.
Motion passes, 4 -0.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 PM.
