Ma. 02048 The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. Present were: Wayne Jacques, Geanine Parks, Barbara Orlando, and Kate Viens. Minutes of the April and May meetings were accepted. Members agreed that the items in the Commission's possession which are in locked storage ought to be inventoried, and that this will be a project for the next meeting. Gean will ask what happened to material put into boxes after the old Town Hall burned, because those things that might be the Commission's should be accessioned along with the other items. Barbara reported a discussion with Tom Maylander (an architect from North Easton who is doing an Americans with Disabilities Act assessment of the town). He suggested that ( when she writes the selectmen to let them know about the National Register nomination of the Memorial Library, she should also send copies of the letter to the Planning Board and the Municipal Building Committee. Wayne will review the work Kate has done on the nomination so far and offer his comments. Kate reported that as she has learned more about National Historic Districts and the activities of other commissions such as North Attleboro's, (which has a district consisting of only a house and a cemetery), she has come to believe that a district in the vicinity of the Memorial Library may be possible. She will write a letter to the Mass. Historical Commission to let them know that the Mansfield commission is only going to nominate the one building at this time. She'll list the two reasons Mark Verkennis of the MHC gave her at the Foxboro historical commissions roundtable in June: the building is of national significance and is under some threat because of a possible change in its use. Kate will call the MHC to clarify at what point a building becomes eligible for National Register proections and benefits. Members discussed plotting the locations of town cemeteries, noting that any survey work will probably have to be done by Historical Commission Meeting - 9/92 minutes, cont'd... the commission alone. Barbara will ask about the availability of Arts Lottery funds to hire someone to help with the project. Gean will ask Lorilee for what material she has on the cemeteries. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
