Lorilee Fish, Parks and Recreation, and Jerry Schema, Veterans Agent, attended the meeting. January minutes were approved. A motion to move the Gravesite Project ahead of correspondence and the election of officers was approved. GRAVESITE PROJECT: Lorilee and Jerry reviewed possible state funding of gravestone restoration. Jerry could receive some funding for the restoration of veteran's stones. He needs to locate the worse stones and then petition the state for their restoration. Lorilee is planning to hire an intern to catalog the stones in the South Common Cemetery. She plans to contact the Easton Historical Commission to find out how they obtained funding. The Commission decided to work in common with Jerry and Lorilee. We will stop surveying until we hear from the Lorilee. June, July and August will be set aside as work months. Kate updated the Commission on the Drake Cemetery. The state OK'd the retaining wall on Bird Street. REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE: The following correspondence was reviewed: Town correspondence - Conservation Calendar, 2/15/94; Fiscal Budget, 2/14/94. Cataloging slides from A. Barr - (postponed) 3. Interview with Gail Goddard, Sun Chronicle - (temporarily canceled) 4. Review of consultant's visit to Fisher- Richardson House - Regarding National Register nomination. The consultant felt the Fisher - Richardson House is more representative of a "1930 Restoration ". She repackaged the nomination papers as a 1930 restoration, instead of an 18 century house. The house will be reviewed March 9 by MHC. Once on the N -R it could be revised, and if documented by a "Special Consultant ", one versed in identification of early timber, it could be put on the register as an 18th century house. The Commission (felt MHC should have notified us earlier about the lack of documentation. We would not have enough time to review the papers before the March 9th review. A motion to remove the Fisher - Richardson House nomination papers failed. A motion to delay the nomination papers until the Commission could study the new package (April/May meetings) was passed. Kate will notify AMC of our decision. Wayne volunteered to visit MHC, Boston, to discuss our concerns. HISTORICAL COMMISSION February 22, 1994 MINUTES Page 3 5. Soldiers Memorial Library Nomination.
