The minutes of the September 26 were approved as recorded. Gean moved, Pat seconded. All in favor. Kate spoke to Mike Ahern at the DPW about the Fisher - Richardson house and sent him a copy of the structural assessment. He has capped the second chimney with wire mesh and a band clamp. It will keep animals out but not the weather. The work needed for the beams and electrical system are beyond the DPW and will needed to be contracted. Claire Dempsey will be attending a future meeting. Kate spoke to Minxie Fannen about the Aztec sculptures and she has agreed to look at them with Kate, Pat and Gean on Friday, October 27 at 5:30 pm. In relation to the Williams Street Bridge, there may be some serious obstacles concerning the destruction of an archaelogical site and the character of the area. The Commission received $2000 at the last Town Meeting and Lorilee Fish from Parks and Recreation wondered how we wish to spend the funds. She plans to work with the Fannens in the future when restoring stones for the Gravesite Project. After discussion it was decided to use our money to allow Lorilee to continue and complete her work on the project. Gean moved, Pat seconded. All in favor. The next workshop will be in the spring and the next area to be completed is East Mansfield. A walkway has been proposed through the West St. Cemetary to connect the present Town Hall parking lot with the area around Park Row. The plan is to make it 5 feet wide with lighting. There was much concern about traffic, especially roller blades and skate boards, coming so close to the graves. There were questions about barriers, railings, snow removal, etc. It was decided to ask the Massachusetts Historical Commission for guidelines and investigate if the Town has considered other options. Letter from Lorilee Fish to Town Manager Bill Williams about the West. St. Cemetary walkway 2. Memo from DPW Director Dan Clifford about surplus materials at Park Row 3. Letter from Elizabeth Noone of Weymouth asking for information about local cemetades 4. Bay State Historical League quarterly meeting notice 5. Historic Massachusetts, Inc. flyers for workshops 6.
