Animal Shelter Flea Market 9. Town Meeting memo from Town Manager The minutes from the November 1995 and January 1996 meetings were approved as recorded. The grant period for the Bay State Historical League ends on February 29, 1996. We are waiting for the final report from Claire Dempsey. Possible uses for the remaining $200 from the grant were discussed. It was decided to use the money to purchase historic photos of the Fisher - Richardson House and the history books Claire suggested. Leslie will set up an account with Baker and Taylor to purchase the books at a discount. They will be available to the Mansfield Historical Society and Commission members for background reading for house tours and general information. Leslie will create a purchase order before February 29. Kate will write the final report for the grant in March. The January meeting with Claire Dempsey and the Mansfield Historical Society was reviewed. Claire presented her report and recommendations for background reading. The information will be added to our National Register application. It appears from Claire's . research that the Fisher Richardson house was built around 1740 -50 although architecturally the house looks older. Town Planner Shaun Burke is looking for possible grants for rebuilding the Williams Street Bridge. Kate found out that transportation project funds can sometimes be used. The bridge was built in the 1930's and does not meet the requirements for a historic bridge. She has written to the Selectmen suggesting that they ask the Mass Highway Dept to rebuild it in its original form (timber pile bridge with timber deck.) They have done this for other towns. A dam will need to be rebuilt as well. Parking for the new Town hall has been approved. The lawsuit and Zoning Board of Appeals decision have been bypassed. The Planning Board reinterpreted the number of spaces needed. There will be a fence around the Aztec statues during construction. There is question as to whether a path through West Street cemetary will still be needed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 pm. Respectfully submitted, J Leslie A. Pasch Secretary
