6. Notice of revised date for Special Town Meeting
7. Selectmen's summer schedule
8. Bill Williams' letter to the Mansfield News
9. Water conservation policy
10. Request for Commission to fill out Commmunity Action statement for town
Kate filled out the Community Action Statement from the Planning Dept.which is
required for the town to become eligible for community development block grants. The
Selectmen had a public hearing scheduled for June 19.
Lorilee Fish from Parks and Recreation faxed Kate a copy of the wording for each
cemetery plaque and she made the necessary final corrections. Leslie said that Lorilee told
her that she (Lorilee) would get the required bids. There was some confusion over
whether the cost to attacha the plaques would be extra and who would do the work. The
Commission's minutes state that the cost is extra and the work will be accomplished by
DPW.
Charlotte attended the Selectmen's informational seminar for boards and committees on
the open meeting law, taking minutes, etc. She obtained a retention of records list and
information about conflict of interest from the Ethics Commission.
The manual for the Fisher - Richardson tours was discussed in detail. Leslie brought the
one she uses to train guides at Borderland State Park. It was generally agreed that a room
by room tour in which the story of the families, architecture and history gradually unfold
would work best. A short, easily comprehended script with detailed background info on
each could be put into a binder. The guide would present the scripted portion while still
having access to details to answer questions from the public. Kate spoke to Claire about
her final meeting at the house with the tour guides. She plans to offer suggestions on
incorporating her report. Kate will call her with a date of July 9th at 6 pm. There was
some concern that it might be too dark in the house even in the early evening. Kate will
send a copy of the architectural talk she did for the Mansfield Historical Society to each
Commission member. Leslie will do the minutes right away to keep Pat Cataloni and
Gean Parks up to date.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
