The Mass Historical Commission has approved proposals for the historic
structures report from Claire Dempsey, Roger Taylor Panek and Preservation
Partnership. More discussion followed. Leslie made a motion that we choose
Claire Dempsey. 2nd by Allen. All in favor. There was question as to whether the
Commission is required to keep a formal, written record of how each candidate
was rated or if our minutes will suffice. Leslie will call the MHC for clarification
since a sample form is included in the grant guidelines and the Commission will
meet again on Wed, May 5 at 7:30 if the form must be used. Leslie explained that
the new preservation restriction has been forwarded to Town Counsel for review.
She received a quote from Pro -Sign Graphics for $450 for the project sign. Jean
made a motion that the quote be accepted. 2nd by Gean. All in favor. We will
ask Claire how she wants her team to be identified on the sign.
Kevin said that the yard at the Fisher - Richardson House is in need of a spring
clean-up and some long -tern care. After discussion it was decided to have Leslie
call the Garden Club now and to possibly participate in a town -wide volunteer
effort in the Fall. There are also preservation landscaping grants for the future.
Kevin also reported that there is a family of raccoons living in the chimney at the
house. Gean volunteered to call the Animal Control Officer.
The Clemmey Tank Building has been destroyed by fire. There was some
feeling that the Commission should be contacted when a historic building is
damaged or destroyed. Leslie will forward a memo requesting such notification in
the future from the Building Inspector and Town Manager along with a list of
historic sites. Leslie will copy the list for all Commission members as well.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 pm on a motion by Gean, seconded by
Allen. All in favor. Leslie will let everyone know if the Wednesday, May 5
meeting at 7:30 pm is necessary.
