The Chairperson, John Rau, presided. The minutes from the August 31 meeting were approved on a motion by Gean, seconded by Leslie. All in favor. 1. Notice of Mass Archaeology Week 2. Copy of letter from Mass Historical Commission to Carr Research Laboratory concerning construction of new homes on Bird Road with completed project notification form 3. Notice of historic preservation conference at Clark University 4. Notice of new history of Medfield from Medfield Historical Society Allen presented information on National Register and local historic districts and a discussion followed. Gean suggested that plaques be made to commemorate the National Register status of Memorial Hall and the Fisher - Richardson House. Leslie updated everyone on the grant project at the Fisher - Richardson House. Claire Dempsey and Tom Paske have finished the measurements of the house and Tom is working on the drawings. They are in the process of scheduling the October work and expect the structural engineer to visit late in the month. Leslie also reported that Sally Hild from Boston University will be contacting her regarding their project to visit and survey existing homes in the Commonwealth built before 1720. She would like the Commission to help introduce her to the homeowners. Leslie spoke to Kevin McNatt of the Mansfield Historical Society regarding insurance on the contents of the Fisher - Richardson House. Kevin provided her with an itemized list of those items the Society currently insures. After discussion, the Commission members felt confident that the contents of the house are covered by the Society's policy and there should be no need for the town to carry the same insurance. Kevin pointed out that the ownership of some items in the house is questionable. Many were donated to the house between 1930, when the town purchased the house, and 1951, when the society was formed. Leslie will call Kevin and the Town Manager's office. She will contact DPW about inspecting the fire extinguishers in the house and collecting a pile of debris in the yard as well. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 26 at 7:30 pm. Respectfully submitted, Leslie A. Pasch Secretary
