The contract with MassHistoric has been singed and delivered; however, it is being held
up by the lack of the deed restriction, which must be signed by the Town Manager. Mr.
D'Agostino has submitted the restriction to Town Counsel, who believes a tine should be
added saying the house would be maintained pending the town having the finding.
Consensus of the commission was that would be a bad idea, since we have committed to
preserving and maintaining the house. Mr. Mangiaratti is waiting to hear from
MassHistoric as to whether such a condition would be allowable. No work will be done
until the archaeological work has been completed, which cannot begin until the deed
restriction has been settled.
The commission discussed asking the MBC for a few minutes during each of their
meetings for a Fisher- Richardson House update. A memo will be sent asking the MBC to
advise the commission of its schedule so a mutually agreeable time can be worked out,
and asking for updates between meetings as appropriate.
Historic District: Mrs. Nordbeck said she has requested information about the
establishment of a National Historic District. lair. Loving said he thought that would be
more likely to work, since a Local District is too restrictive, and the town has to vote for
it.
Card Chapel, Springbrook Cemetery: The cemetery association has been contacted'
regarding the possibility of applying for National Register recognition, and is very
interested. Mrs. Parks will contact MassHistoric for the proper forms to begin the
process. Mrs. Nordbeck will contact the Springbrook Cemetery Association to request
they begin gathering their records and invite them to attend the commission's September
meeting.
Motion: To adjourn at 8:30 p.m. (Parks- Nordbeck) All in favor. PASSES
