Hartwell School Options. Mr. Unger has made some phone calls to Mass Historic about
possible funding options. The Preservation Services Fund may be the best possibility, as
the others appear to be very competitive. Mr.Unger has visited the building, which has
had some alterations to the interior. He said the building seems to have the original pine
flooring, which is covered with paint. Mr. McNatt said the Historical Society has some
information and older photographs of the school. Mr. Unger said he attended a meeting
of the Uncommon Theater, which has been using the school, and they were concerned
about the limitations with a National Register property.
Fisher - Richardson House Update. Mrs. Parks returned the touring guide and a notebook
full of pictures to the file following the Sister Cities tour. She and Mrs. Nordbeck led
three tours of the house during that tour, which was successful.
Mrs. Parks gave a tour of the Fisher - Richardson House to the Colonial Dames today.
That group has a program that provides plaques for historical buildings, for which we
have an application. Mr. McNatt said the Historical Society may already have a plaque
donated by the Colonial Dames, which he will look for. Ms. Parks noted that wouldn't
have the National Register designation on it.
Ms. Parks said when she went into the Fisher - Richardson House today, the alarm was
making a strange noise. She called the alarm company, who said the noise was coming
from the fire box, which would need maintenance.
Springbrook Cemetery National Register Application — This will be drafted and sentt out
for a meeting on June 15 to review one more time. The Springbrook Association will be
invited to that meeting to make sure they agree with what the commission has done.
