1, Meeting called to order 7:45 p.m.
1. January 29, 2009 minutes
Motion: To approve as submitted (Conboy- O'Malley) All in favor. PASSES
The commission discussed the town's budget problems. While it will not be much
money, the commission will figure out what it needs to function through the end of
the fiscal year and turn the rest back. [Turned back $700]
Mrs. Shaw told the commission the Uncommon Theater will be applying for gift fund
money to have the Hartwell School's roof replaced. They are getting estimates now.
They also need windows, but those may be more work and cost more.
The commission watched the Mass Historic DVD "Local Historical Commissions in
( Massachusetts." The following Goals and Action Plan arose during the film.
1. Identification of types and locations of historical resources

Organize our files! !
Compile a database of our inventories
[Mass Historic already has a list Mansfield's inventories
compare it to what we have and replace any missing items]
Talk to the Historical Society about sharing their photos of buildings for
which we have inventories, or for which we may do inventories
2. Evaluation to determine which resources are significant for possible National
Register applications
Action Plan
Consider doing a survey plan to identify "new" properties that
should be inventoried
Use the criteria from the National Register regulations when
considering properties for potential applications
3. Protection through public awareness
Action Plan
Consider placing copies of the inventories at the library
Consider scanning inventories to put on the town's website
Explore other methods of publicizing

Preservation through Bylaws and Ordinances
