Principal Search updates:
The Superintendent informed the School Committee that the Principal Search
Committee's for the Qualter's Middle School and the High School have narrowed the
search down to four candidates for each school and hope to complete the process this
week. Mrs. Hodges stated that both committees have been wonderful, as were the
candidates, and feel that they can meet their target date of December 14, 2007 for a final
candidate. Mrs. Miller wanted to know if the parents were going to have an opportunity
to meet the candidates. There were a few requests for a formal Open House to meet the
candidates.
District Space Needs Update:
The Superintendent updated the School Committee on the space needs of the district.
Mr. Kevin Buckley will be present for the December 181h School Committee Meeting to
give a presentation of the site plan and additional information on the portable
classrooms. In going over options for the district it appears that the only viable option is
that of modular classrooms. The high school is nearing peak enrollment. Planned
changes for the high school will allow for some space for 2008/2009.The Little Hornets
will be transferred to the Robinson Elementary School freeing up 2 rooms. The old shop
area at the high school can be made into 2 additional classrooms. The PPS Office at the
Roland Green will be relocated for the 2008/2009 school year within in the district,
allowing the present facility to accommodate the need of the Pre School.
New Business
Budget'09 Presentation:
Mr. Edward Vozzella, Director of Finance, presented the `09 Budget to the School
Committee with a Power Point presentation. Present for the presentation were members
of the Finance Committee along with the school administrators. The School Committee
was pleased and felt it was a great presentation.
Electronic Sian:
The discussion of the Electronic Sign at the high school will be going to the Zoning
Board for approval. The Zoning Board's concern is that of ensuring that the sign is not
a safety issue with a flashing sign or to have eye catching graphics in the busy school
zone. Ms. Cindy Davis, Assistant Principal of the High School, informed the School
Committee about the monies allocated for funding for the sign. The following funds
have been raised in the form of class gifts and fundraisers, $6,000 has come from class

gifts, $1,700 from the All Night Party with the final cost of the sign to be around
$26,000. The basic electrical work and footings were done over 2 years ago.
Hiah School Parent Teacher Conferences:
The Committee discussed the time allowed of five minutes for each parent teacher
meeting. The teachers have four nights a year per contract year where they must have

lengthen the conference times without changing the teachers timeframe.
