regarding the many flu clinics that had been held this year for Mansfield residents and the people that
volunteered their talents to make them successful. Mr. Leite thanked Head nurse, Pat Harrison, Debbie
Wirth and a myriad of municipal employees that volunteered their time to make these events successful.
Superintendent's Report:
Mrs. Hodges announced that Dr. Maruszczak had received notification that the NEASC visit can now be
delayed by one year if we choose, making the accreditation due in 2013 instead of 2012.
Citizens Comments:
There were a large number of citizens present at the meeting. There were members and parents of the
swim team as well as members of the local Stand for Children group with a myriad of questions and pleas.
The Swim Team said they would fund their own team if they could remain as a team at the high school.
There was a letter read by the Stand for Children President, Mary Barton -Rau, outlining the information the
group was looking for better understanding of the present budget crisis. The request was made to put the
School Committee minutes on the district website to use as a reference. The School Committee answered
all questions asked by the large crowd and explained that they are planning to have a Budget Forum in the
very near future and to remain interested and please advise others as well as yourselves to attend.

OLD BUSINESS:
Budget FY 111:
The School Committee made the decision that they would wait until the next meeting on March 23`d to
begin making more cuts. Mr. Trowbridge and Mrs. Losiewicz both felt that they would like to wait until
they had the Budget Forum and for the final numbers from the state to go further with the drastic cuts. The
Committee wanted all present to know that none of them recommend these cuts, but unfortunately they will
have to be made, which is extremely difficult for all of them to do.
NEW BUSINESS
Full Day Kindergarten:
The Superintendent informed the Committee that she is thinking about a full day kindergarten program.
There are currently 37 children whose parents have shown interest in this type of program. The tuition for
a full day program would be around $4,000 for approximately thirty students with one teacher and no aide.
St. Mary's School has a full day kindergarten with a cost of $4,200 a year per student. As far as space is
concerned, as we cut the budget it leaves more available rooms.

Bullying Policy:
The current bullying laws are being changed radically to adopt far stricter guidelines for the future
offenders. Presently, the Legislature is in the process of adopting new policy and voting it into law. The
Superintendent is recommending that the School Committee adopt the new MASC policy as an addendum
to the Student Handbooks.
Motion to accept made by Mr. Michael Trowbridge, 2 "d by Mr. Frank DelVecchio.

Other:
Mrs. Hodges updated the School Committee on the prospects of using Radio Bus and found that it really
was not a moneymaker and they were not going to pursue it.
