FY'14 Budget / Sub Committee Meetings / District Update:
Mrs. Hodges updated the Committee on the budget due to Mr. Vozzella not being present. Mrs. Hodges
began with an outline of the budget process she and Mr. Vozzella exercise with each building principal.
They all begin with a zero based budget and build from there. We have meetings setup for next week to
go over the next pass where they defend their budgets and begin to make adjustments as we move
forward and prepare to give our presentation of the budget in December to the School Committee. We
have only had one meeting with the Budget Subcommittee meeting so far It appears that we are having
difficulty coming up with another date. Mr. Trowbridge noted that we only had only one meeting and
had agreed on another date. The municipal side did not get posted for the meeting and we have been
scrambling ever since. Mr. Trowbridge wanted to wait just a few more days and then move forward

Strategic Plan:
Brenda Hodges updated the Committee that she has gone forward with her Strategic Planning group and
has set a date on October 30, 2012 at 6:oo pm regarding the schools strategic plan and to expand the
district's Strategic Plan and we will tie this in with our FY 14 Budget to begin with because it is a 5 year
plan. We are tying in our Strategic Plan with our School Improvement Plans. We will hear the first
School Improvement Plan tonight and we will talk about how the School Improvement Plan will be tied
into our budget. Mrs. O'Neil asked if Mrs. Hodges had a process for the plan or are you working with the
group. Mrs. Hodges assured Mrs. O'Neil that the Strategic Plan Committee would be part of this from
the beginning and that they were sent the Strategic Plan and that the principals will be involved as well.
We will expand our Strategic Plan for 5 years. Mrs. Hodges noted that she wanted to work with the
Town and that the people on our Committee are the same ones that were part of the combined Strategic
Plan and that we just have not had that meeting with the schools and the town yet. Mrs. O'Neil asked
how many were on our Committee with Mrs. Hodges stating we had four members. Mr. Trowbridge
noted that Bill Ross did sign a contract with a telephone company for the phones andwith a consultant
regarding the town wide phone system, so they will begin to get those prices. It is the top of the list for
the CIP.
