HI. UPDATE ON WATER CONSERVATION FORUM — DAVE MASCARELLI
Southworth: Dave Mascarelli is hying to put the forum together,' which would involve the
water superintendents in the various towns; do not have an update at this time.
IV. OPEN SPACE MAP & UPDATE
As to recent acquisitions, John Fresh noted the proposed purchase of the 49 acre Schofield
Farm on Dean Street in Easton which abuts the area known as Wheaton Farm; the Community
Preservation Committee thought it was such an important parcel they voted to purchase it
(range of $1 — 1.6 million); this parcel is removed fiom the Canoe River but it is in the
Hockomock Swamp ACEC; there is a wildlife corridor that runs though it fiom the swamp to
Borderland State Park.
Southworth: at the Special Town Meeting, the Water Department purchased a 16 acre piece
of property around the water tower on Bay Road that abuts Borderland also; it is the highest
elevation of our community.
V. PUBLIC RELATIONS ARTICLES
Southworth: was hoping to tie this in with the Water Conservation Forum; also would like to
do some more press releases; over the years we have put together a number of forums; early
on had tremendous response but in recent years, we have not — think this is due to the times;
the last year or so we have been looking to put together a program, tape same and then
distribute to the communities for cable; would also do a press release, which is one of Janet
Simolari's strengths; would be best to tie the press release in with an event.
VI. NEW BUSINESS'/ VIII. OTHER BUSINESS
Southworth: as to Green Belt issues is there anything new in Norton. Jennifer Carlino: we
are waiting for the deed; the Open Space. Committee is going to try and prepare there own
wildlife habitat evaluation.

Conservation Commission, addressing it will be part of the Order of Conditions.
