Minutes of the meeting held by the Canoe River Aquifer Advisory Committee on
November 3, 2005, beginning at 1:05 P.M. at the Sharon To n,I,4all 90. ' Soutfif&6
Street, Sharon, MA 02067.
Members present: Wayne Southworth, Easton; David Masciarelli, Sharon; Ed Tartufo,
Mansfield; Suzanne Erikson, Norton; Leo Potter, Foxboro; Leonard Flynn, Mansfield.
Also present: Jenn Carlino,Norton; John Marsh, Easton; Beth Brazil, Manomet Center;
Antonetta Ackerman; Sharon.
I. CALL TO ORDER - Meeting called to order at 1:05 P.M. by Wayne Southworth. "
II. REVIEW OF MINUTES - Minutes of October 6, 2005 meeting were approved with
corrections. Section VI New Business 1 VIII Other Business: Deed should have been
"David Opatka from DCam ". Spelling correction "New" should have been "News ", also
"They" as "The can ".
III. UPDATE ON WATER CONSERVATION FORUM — DAVE MASCIARELLI
David: Location regarding where to hold the meeting is still in debate. The date and time "
will be November 15, 20050 at 10:00 A.M.and should last about %2 hour. Once we hear
from Kurt Gaffney, Mansfield, things should be all set.
Wayne: Would like a copy of the show. Maybe an article could be made on this
important subject of water conservation.
IV. OPEN SPACE MAP & GREENBELT UPDATE-
Leonard: Arrangements were made to overcome permit procedures. There is one more
meeting to go. They are working with the Engineering/GIS Developer to make a map of
the 500 ft. buffer in an Excel spreadsheet, including the owner's name, acres, direct water
frontage and the depth of soil. The 5 towns should try and make a map with similar
information; it could benefit the Canoe River.
Jenn: Draft Deed, Article 97 on parcel and should close the end of the year. Wildlife
habitat is another issue they are working on. She will update the committee when she has
further information.
V. DISCUSSION OF THE AWARENESS DAY ON MAY 79 2006 AT THE l
MANSFIELD FISH AND GAME WITH LESLIE LUCHONOK, GUEST
SPEAKER -
Wayne: Awareness day is confirmed in Mansfield and it would be a great idea to take a
tour of the Treatment Plant. Leonard Flynn will get in contact with Kurt Gaffney to
confirm.
Leonard: Concern of the date for Awareness Day due to the time of year and the fact that
it has rained during previous Awareness Days. Leonard suggested holding the event in
June.
Wayne: June 3`d was suggested to the committee and it was agreed. Also there is a pump
station that could be on the tour.
Leonard: Will check with Mansfield on a tour at the Treatment Plant and pump station
and will report next meeting with an update.
VII. NEW BUSINESS /OLD BUSINESS -
Wayne: Introduced Beth Brazil from the Manomet Center to the committee. She gave a
presentation of their group's purpose.
Next meeting is in the Foxboro Town Hall on December 1, 2005.
