RR: May 11, 1995, Animal Welfare Committee Meeting

The Animal Welfare Committee met on Thursday, May 11, 1995, at the Town Hall. Amajority
of the five members were present to establish a quorum. Our first action was to elect officers:
Matt M ilerwas elected chairman and Swan Talaverawas elected vice-chairman
Because two of the three members presentwere new to the Committee, we distributed copies of
the Town By -laws thatrefer specifically to the care of animals and the responsibilities of the
Committee. We agreed to review this information to become familiarwith our responsibifl ties and
to determine if any changes maybe required. We will discuss these By -laws at our next meeting.
W. Miller agreed to contact the past chairman of the Committee, Linda Sohn, to request records
or backgroundinfoimation that is relevant to the operation of the Committee. He will also request
meetings with the Animal Control Officer (Chief O'Neill) and Animal lliumane Officer (Jeff
Collins) to discuss the daily operations of the Animal Shelter and any concerns they may have.
We also discussed the volunteer organization and their fund - raising efforts to build anew shelter.
Mr. Miller was to contact this group to advise them of this May I 1 mceting and to invite them to
the nextmeeting of the Committee to discuss theirintentions.
Finally, we set Thursday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. (at the Town Hall) as the next Committee meeting.
