Three of the five members were present which means that a quorum for voting was not established. Also attending the meeting were shelter volunteers Tara DeVeau, Suzanne Berry, Dick Davenport and David Cass. Interested party Dawn Bearce from Foxboro also attended. • A check of $5,000 was received from the estate of Ms. Deborah McNeilly of Foxboro who requested that the money only be used for the care of dogs at the Mansfield Shelter and for no other purpose. A letter of appreciation will be drafted by Chairman Miller and sent to Ms. McNeilly's parents in Greenfield. • A letter from Dr. Sohn to Town Manager Bill Williams concerning "kitty city' was distributed and discussed. It was generally agreed that Dr. Sohn's concern about spreading cat diseases has been or is in the process of being corrected. Establishing a quarantine area for new cats and moving the cat population to a larger room is a major step In addressing this concern. The other major step is the on -site volunteer veterinarian care that is being performed by Dr. Trapani. The other issue raised in the letter included the possibility of cats being infected with rabies — although extremely rare in Massachusetts, the 10 -day quarantine period along with on -site medical inspection and care should adequately address this issue. • A sub - committee was formed to develop and review procedures related to the above - mentioned concerns and to develop written guidelines that all parties related to the Shelter could agree on. • General and medical expenses for the Shelter were discussed. As per the Town By -Laws, the AWC is supposed to review the annual budget for the Shelter. Chairman Miller will write to Asst. Town Manager Chris Marion to request this and other information related to the expenses at the Shelter. We set November 21, at 7:30 p.m. (Town Hall) as the next Committee meeting.
