All seven members were present to establish a quorum. Also attending the meeting were Tara DeVeau and Suzanne Berry. The Committee reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting and approved them. • Balances for the AWC financial account were presented: spay- neuter $409; general $8,199.71; new shelter $37,308.29. The total balance is $45,917. There are no outstanding invoices for medical care. A total of $404 from the can collections was added. Four NSF checks were returned to the AWC and resubmission was discussed. • Chairman Miller was to write a letter to the Charter Review Commission to raise the issue of cats not being mentioned in the Town By -Laws and other concerns of the AWC. • Activities for the proposed May 3 "Adopt -a -Thon" were discussed in detail. The South Common has been reserved and other arrangements were finalized. The primary goal of this event is to offer the rabies clinic, sell dog licenses and raise the community awareness level of the shelter; fund raising is a secondary goal. • With an overflow of dogs at the shelter, Humane Officer Collins reported that several dogs should be considered for euthanasia. After a lengthy discussion, one dog with medical problems was deemed unadoptable and the decision was made to put him down. The fate of the others was tabled until after the Adopt -a -Thon and other promotional activities that might find homes for the dogs. We set May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall as the next Committee meeting. Respectfully submitted, / 014 Matt Miller Chairman, Animal Welfare Committee cc: Committee Members Town Clerk, Judith F.
