Also attending the meeting were local Boy Scouts Shawn McNamee and Dan Kessel, and Mansfield resident Rose Wool. • AWC member Geanine Parks has notified the committee that she intends to resign and will be writing a formal resignation letter to the Board of Selectmen. Geanine has been an inspiration to the committee and has played an active role in its leadership for more than three years. It will be difficult to replace her valued insight. We offer our best wishes and thanks for the many hours of unselfish dedication. • We now have one seat open on the AWC and encourage interested parties to apply to the Board of Selectmen. • Suzanne Berry has agreed to temporarily take over the donation can project that Geanine established with the downtown merchants. These cans provide money that is used for supplies and medical care at the Animal Shelter. • Balances for the AWC financial account were presented: spay- neuter $409; general $8,559.01; new shelter $37,761.94. The total balance is $46,729.95. There are no outstanding invoices for medical care. • The main Animal Shelter sign at S. Main and Fruit has been missing for several months. Chairman Miller will contact the DPW to inquire about having a new sign installed. • Boy Scout Shawn McNamee reported on his proposed project at the Animal Shelter to help earn his Eagle status. He will assemble a work detail and the Scouts will install a barrier under the outside run fence to keep dogs from digging under the fence and escaping. This was previously agreed upon and accepted by the AWC. • Another Boy Scout, Dan Kessel, requested a second Eagle project in which he would paint the windows and trim at the Animal Shelter. This was tentatively approved and Dick Davenport will work with Dan to oversee the project. There will be no AWC meeting during July. The next meeting has been set for August 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
