further feedback to assist in determining the shelter's requirements
Publicity:
• Website will have more frequent updates.
• Tim is involved in the e-mail and will respond to a -mails received
• Diane is updating once a week.
Vet Update:
Richard will be meeting with Dr Trapani to discuss availability and try to determine the
best method to provide consistent and readily available care for animals. Other
veterinarian concerns raised
• Utilizing Dr Sohn more due to the close proximity
• Not trying to involve too many veterinarians to keep care consistent.
• The shelter currently has two vets that it can use and West Bridgewater Emergency
Animal Hospital to use in the case of an emergency.
• Jeff commented that there should be guidelines for volunteers to use before
contacting a vet. Sometimes vets are called when it is not necessary.
Spay /Neuter
Everyone agrees with the goal of spaying or neutering 100% of the animals that leave
the shelter. There are timing and logistical issues that need to be worked out.
• The possibility of setting up a standing appointment with a vet was discussed
• The Spayin Waggin is a good resource but people may not want to wait for its
monthly visit to pick up the animal they want to adopt.
Shelter/Volunteer Issues:
• While there is always a need for good volunteers, the shifts look good. There are no
holes in the schedule. There is a new person Tuesday and Sunday and two new
volunteers on Thursday.
• Volunteers all getting along fine and there are no issues.
New Business
• Vaccination Clinic — will be held Saturday April 7, 1 to 3 PM at the Plymouth Street
Fire Station.
• Matt will write press release and distribute to recommended list of media
• Dogs and cats will be vaccinated. Dr Trapani has 1,000 vaccinations on hand.
• Dr Trapani and Dr Sohn are donating their time and all proceeds less the cost of the
vaccinations will go to the MSF.
• Dogs will have to be on leashes and cats in carriers.
• The possibility of licensing dogs during the clinic will be looked into.
• Jeff will speak to the vets about the possibility of vaccinating ferrets and the youngest
age at which a pet can be vaccinated.
8:52 Motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and passed 5 -0.
