concern and report to the full committee at our regular meeting: Stacy Howard will be
responsible for Finance; Besty Wagner for Animal Health and Welfare; Jayme Glick for
Volunteer Activity /Issues; Ana Molina- Villella for Fund - raising, Advertising and Public

non - profit organization, Mansfield Shelter Friends (MSF) to present their balance.
• July 29, 2000 event: Fund - raising for the volunteers' event was discussed. Petco
will provide a tent and banner and will be soliciting prizes from their vendors.
Smaller donations are being solicited for a raffle. Ten animal rescue or adoption
organizations will be coming to the event. The Brockton Enterprise has expressed
an interest. There will be clowns, face - painting, ponies, bunnies, and wildlife will
available.
• Discussion was held regarding a proposed donation of land to the shelter. A motion
was made to examine a land transfer deal to donate the land to MSF to sell for profit
at no cost to the shelter. Motion passed 5 — 0.
• Advertising, Publicity and Public Education: The web site is up to date and the
possibility of ICI providing the site its own domain name to provide easier access is
being investigated. The cable access program was discussed. A thank you was
issued for the latest edition of the newsletter that was recently mailed. These
newsletters generate interest, volunteers, and donations.
• Volunteer Activities /Issues: The shelter is currently short of volunteers and there is a
need to do recruiting. Schedules are going to be re- examined to determine where
the greatest need is. Discussion was held about the need to communicate among
volunteers especially regarding adoptions. It is important that all volunteers involved
in adoptions are providing consistent information to potential adopters.
Animal Health and Welfare: Discussion was held about the need to develop a
procedure to deal with medical care. An outline and spending guide_ will be
established to determine what of medical care is to be done automatically and when
approval has to be obtained to make a medical expenditure.
Snowball — female cat in shelter; a motion was made to appropriate $57.00 to spay.
Motion passed 5 — 0.
Eddy — a badly matted male cat in shelter; a motion was made to appropriate $40.00
to groom the cat. Motion passed 5 — 0.
Old Business:
Computerized Records: Base line information needs to be loaded. Discussion was held
whether the computer would be used by the volunteers. People are willing to use the
computer as long as all volunteers are trained how to use it. There have been printer
problems; it will be determined whether it would be worth fixing the existing printer or
obtaining a new one.
Dog Licenses: 2,500 dogs in town, only 1,200 licensed. The possibility of having an
amnesty day was discussed where the late fines would be waived if an individual were to
license their dog at the July 29 event.
Chapter 8: Also discussed was the need to develop a committee together with the
Animal Humane Officer, Chief of Police and Town Manager to review and recommend
changes to the town's by -laws. We need to examine whether the town's by -laws are out
of date or adequate.
The next committee meeting was set for July 20, 2000, at the Town Hall, and the
committee voted to set all meetings for the remainder of the year on the third Thursday
of the month.
