Fund Raising • The potential donation of land on Rt. 106 was discussed. The issue that must be determined before moving forward is the question of whether there is value in the land • The July 29th event was discussed. Plans were made for the set -up of the South Common. It was decided that it would be good to have some animals present it was determined that Jeff would have final say which animals had appropriate personality. Kevin will work with Jeff to arrange the donation of several dog carriers to the shelter, Advertising, Publicity and Public Education • As of the time of the meeting The MSF newsletter had generated $1300.00 in donations only $10.00 shy of the cost of the newsletter. The letter has also generated a tremendous amount of interest and resulted in adoptions. • The Website has a new domain donated by ICI — WWWMANSFIELDSHELTER.ORG The website is working well generating calls from north of Boston. • Cable TV is generating interest and calls. Discussion was held about personalizing the show, getting the animals out of the cages. The possibility of more frequently updating the show was also discussed. Cable Access will be contacted to discuss the cable presentation. Animal Health and Welfare • Betsy sent a report updating the progress of the Heath and Welfare committee. • Betsy and Ana are technically Town employees and can transport animals • The issue of adoption costs was discussed. There is a need to determine the costs of standard care that the shelter provides animals and adjust adoption costs so that there is not so great a deficit. • The issue of spay /neuter was discussed. While there is a system in place there is a feeling that more should be done to assure follow-through by individuals adopting pets. The matter needs to be examined and a proposal put together. • There are three problem areas in Town with feral cat populations that Jeff will have to deal with. Old Business: • Computerized records — issues with how the database can only be cross - referenced by number. A concern about the computer literacy of some of the volunteers. The issue will be studied further with the possibilities of designating certain users or creating an Access based database. • Dog licenses — Jeff reports that the number of dogs that have been licensed is up about 150 dogs. Cards have been sent to dog - owners, verification and enforcement is very difficult. • Update of By -Laws Chapter 8 no action taken at this meeting Adjourn: At 10:00 P.M. a motion was made to adjourn the motion passed 5 -0.
