Fund Raising
• The event at Town Hall was a great success. $228 raised for the non - profit through
donations and the sale of coffee mugs and sweatshirts. People were very interested
in the shelter and Luke was a good draw.
• Town Hall suggested that this could be a monthly event. The feeling is we do not
want to wear out our welcome and would look toward doing this again in the spring.
Volunteer ActivitiesiIssues:
• There is still a need for volunteers. Hopefully the shelter's presence in the Holiday
Parade November 29 will generate some interest.
• Saturday November 18 grand opening of the Reclamation center, if there are
volunteers available we may want to keep the shelter open later in case any people
attending the opening may want to stop over.
Advertising, Publicity and Public Education
• Cable TV- Bill Gerber of Cable Access does a very good job promoting the shelter.
He promotes the shelter's efforts and procedures.
• 29"' Holiday Parade volunteers to carry signs, dogs will be marching if they have the
right personality. The volunteers will be marching towards the front of the parade to
keep away from the fire engines.
• Newsletter- first draft is written it will be mailed as soon as possible.
• Web -site is up to date. It needs to be verified whether it is linked to Town's web site.
Animal Health and Welfare
• 2 Cats and 3 dogs adopted in the month of November.
• As of 11/16 there were 9 cats and 9 kittens at the shelter. There were 6 dogs
• Standard care- Denis has provided forms that the shelter may want to examine and
modify our paperwork. The changes are intended to maintain a more complete
history of the animal that is readily accessible.
• There was discussion of arranging a clinic for the volunteers with a vet to
demonstrate what to look for with an animal and be able to better gauge the health of
an animal.
• The flow of the reporting procedures is to be examined to determine how the process
can be improved.
• There was discussion of examining the shelter policies on heartworm and FIV. Also
discussed was the level of education the shelter should be providing concerning
these diseases.
