Town By -laws (Chapter 8 revisions):

Animal Shelter Building Project:
Matt believes that the committee should set up a meeting with the town about possible sites
for the shelter. Matt has contacted Bill Mead from ACES about shelter design and is waiting
to hear back from him
Animal Health and Welfare:
Discussion about the treatment of Drake, a dog that has been diagnosed with
heartworm. There is a family with a good application that is interested in adopting the
dog. Dr Trapani stated that due to significant blood changes Drake is either older than
we believe or he has advanced heartworm. The adopting family has approved treating
the dog. Drake will be sent to his new home to acclimate himself and then given the first
dose of treatment, after resting for a month Drake will given the second treatment.
Mansfield Shelter Friends voted 5 — 0 to approve the treatment.
Richard reviewed his meeting with Dr. Trapani, there is now a better understanding of
the interplay between needs of the shelter and the operation of her practice.
Discussion was held on Magnum an eight - month -old puppy that has been diagnosed
with hip dysphasia. The puppy had been x -rayed and Denise requested that the x -rays
be sent to her office to determine what the appropriate course of care would be to follow.
Vet Guidelines for volunteers. Betsy sent a set of guidelines to be used by shelter
volunteers to determine what consists of basic care for animals entering the shelter, and
the proper procedures to follow for varying levels of veterinarian care animals in the may
require. The committee is to review this material for discussion at the next meeting,
Publicity:
