Jeff Collins The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:30 at the Mansfield Town Hall. Minutes Motion: To approve minutes from the November 151h, 2007 meeting. Passes Adoption Application Forms The committee reviewed and discussed changes in the form that would require the adopter to initial various shelter policies. Members took copies of the form to review before the February meeting, when we will vote on the form. Jeff will look into the necessity of maintaining some of the legal jargon on the form. New Shelter Sign Jeff has been in touch with Mansfield Sign about having the current sign redone to reflect the correct shelter hours. The revised sign will not include the Saturday afternoon hours since that shift is often short- handed. Spay Waggin December S.W was cancelled. Next date: Tuesday, Jan. 29'h. Jeff is concerned about the volume of calls requesting SW information, especially since the January SW can't accommodate everyone. He suggests that the SW should not be the first s/n option that shelter volunteers mention to when kittens are adopted. Jeff will call the local vets who are listed on the reduced cost s/n form and on the free exam form, to see if they are still participating. Officers for '08 Nomination and election of officers for '08 was postponed until the February meeting. Jeff's Comments Jeff would like to be notified of the date once the Spay Waggin is scheduled each month. Jeff is in the process of cleaning out parts of the shelter, and will discard all files that are older than seven years. Jeff commented on the slow processing of dog adoption application. Karen and Wendy volunteered to start processing dog applications on Friday nights. Teen Volunteers Jeff has consulted the Town Manager and found that there is no objection to having volunteers younger than sixteen years. We agreed that for the present, volunteers under age sixteen should be accompanied by an adult who also volunteers. Celebration of Animals At the February meeting we will discuss whether to hold the event in the spring or fall. The Pruells have indicated that if they continue to hold the Willowdale fundraiser, they want to do it in September. Adjournment Motion: To adiourn.at 8:50. Passes 2 I Ak I C) Date 6f Aooroval
