Celebration of Animals 9/27
•Photo Contest — prizes will be awarded only for dog and cat photos this year; none for
"Other" animals.
•Art Contest — Karen remarked that there were problems with the art contest last year
because there were too many prize categories, and kids didn't pick up their prizes
after the event. Mary mentioned that many winners were never contacted because
the children's writing of the telephone numbers was illegible. This year the parents
will need to fill in the phone numbers, volunteers will check legibility, and there will
be fewer prize categories.
• Book Table - Sharon wants to pursue having a table of donated, used books for sale.
She and Abbey, among others, will start saving tops from copier paper cartons to
display the books. Probable prices will be $1.00 for hard covers and .50 for paper
books. No magazines, textbooks, or condensed books will be accepted. Requests for
donations will be advertised in advance. Leftover books will be donated to "Got
Books."
*Agility Demonstrations — Vanessa will contact someone she knows who does agility
training
Air Race at Mansfield Airport (June 28 — 29)
Some volunteers have already signed up to be at the shelter booth. Sharon, fen, and Vanessa also
offered to help.
CJ
We have limited information about how CJ got along with children in his previous home, but
based on information from the surrendering owner, Jeff advised erring on the side of caution and
not adopting CJ to a home with young children.

Karen suggested letting people know as soon as they come to the shelter that certain dogs will not
r be adopted to homes with young children. She also suggested putting a note on CJ's cage in case
volunteers forget to advise visitors.
Medical Records
We will start moving medical records, of animals adopted prior to '07, from the main filing
cabinet to the secondary cabinets.
Confidentiality
Jeff reiterated that volunteers should not reveal information about adoptive pet owners to the
owners who surrendered the pets. Providing surrendering owner information to new owners is
permissible if the new owners want to contact the old owners.
Adjournment
Motion: To adjourn at 8:35. Passes.
