Minutes of
June18,2009
Present: AWC: Sharon Baker, Chairman; Anna Molina- Villella, Vice- Chairman;
Mary Andrews, Clerk; Vanessa Garuffi; Carol Kosel; Lindsay Hawes, Alternate;
Doris Kalter, Alternate
The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:30 at the Mansfield Town Hall.
Minutes
Motion: To approve minutes from April 16, 2009. Passes: 510
Spay Waggin
Next date: Monday, July 27th
Macie
To make Macie suitable for adoption, Corrine Levesque has organized a three week workshop for
Macie with a dog trainer in New Hampshire, starting at the beginning of August. Approximately
$375.00 has been raised so far, and an additional $1,000.00 needs to be raised. Ana has solicited
donations from volunteers.
Adoption Fee
Doris suggested raising the adoption fee in order to bring in more money. This has been discussed
before, and the consensus is that now is not a good time, because with the slow economy we
don't want to discourage adoptions.
Frontline
Doris questioned if the dogs are being Frontlined regularly. She volunteered to maintain a
calendar, marking when Frontline has been given and when it is due.
Morning Volunteer Schedule
Mary suggested that morning volunteers could be retained if a schedule were established that
assigns key- holders alternating weeks of three days on and two days off. Ana will consult Jeff
before AWC tries to implement a schedule.
Celebration of Animals
Ana confirmed that the Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 3`d, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
She said that Robin Croce has started to contact vendors and rescues. Vanessa will contact an
agility trainer.
