The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:35 at the Mansfield Town Hall.
Minutes
Motion: To approve minutes from June 18, 2009. Passes:
Spay Waggin
Next date: Monday, July 27h. Ana will make arrangements for volunteer coverage since Sally
will be away.
Dogs
Ana has received enough donations for Macie's training so that she can take the three week
course in early August. There's a possibility that the trainer might have people in NH who would
be, interested in meeting her and considering adoption.
Sheba's original owner will not be able to take her back after all because he is moving. Jeff will
keep Sheba at the shelter for the next month. She is in good shape for a dog her age, although she
is beginning to have some age related problems. Ana will try to contact the woman who showed
interest in Sheba on Monday night.
Charlie appears to have been neutered even though there is no vet paperwork. He doesn't seem to
be dog aggressive, but he does need training to improve manners.
Kittens '
Jeff would like complete paperwork and record keeping for all kittens in foster homes. Paperwork
should include kitten's name, source, foster mom, etc.
Currently fostered kittens - Sharon: 7 kittens and their mom, 5 kittens with ringworm, Doug with
upper respiratory infection, Veronica (coming to shelter Saturday). Emily: Oliver (adoption
pending), Camilla, Charles.
Ana said that all stray kittens arriving at the shelter used to be routinely given strongid in case
they had worms. She will look into doing it again.
Sally's Departure
Volunteers will need to be recruited to take over the shelter tasks that Sally has been doing:
merchant cans, Spay Waggin, vet runs, Saturday afternoon office shift, etc.
Adjournment
Motion: To adjourn. Passes: 510.
