retail Updates
Because of recent misuse of the update distribution list, Ana proposed that the daily updates be
sent to only two or three key people per shift. The update template will contain the following
areas of information: Incoming Animals: Strays and Surrenders, Adoptions, Applications,
Medical Issues, Other Issues.- Sharon _will -send an email notifying all volunteers on the
distribution list of the new procedure. 5:0 Passes
Strongid for Kittens and Strays
Sharon will get a bottle of strongid to de -worm all new kittens and stray cats when they come to
the shelter. Strongid will be administered by the Saturday morning shift.
Air Conditioner '
The cost of hiring someone to clean the cat romp air conditioners would be approximately
$250.00. They are heavy and would require two people to remove them and hose them down.
Instead of hiring someone, Jeff and/or Lou will ask Mike Ahern if town workers can do it.
First Aid Kits
Current first aid supplies at the shelter are old and inadequate. Jeff will look into getting new
supplies from the Police Dept.
Dogs
*There has been no luck in finding a rescue that will take a dog with a bite history.
Unless one can be found, Isabella will be PTS next week.
• Sophia's owner would like to take her back. The issue is unresolved, and she is still
available for adoption to the right home. Jeff would like applicants to have a fenced-
in yard, no other animals, and preferably no children. Vanessa will look into the
Pilot Program that tries to find homes for problem dogs.
•Lucy's evaluation indicates she needs training. The new owners have training lined up
with Jane Young and with Angel Memorial,
Dog Exchange Program
Jeff has been working with Carmine DeSenzo of the Providence Rescue League to establish an
exchange program whereby a dog that has been at the shelter for a long time might move to the
other shelter where he might have a better chance of adoption with a new audience and in new
surroundings.
