Approve Minutes Motion: To approve minutes from November 19, 2009. 5:0 Passes. Spay Waggin The Animal Rescue League's new, larger Spay Waggin van will start coming to Petco, Mansfield, instead of to the shelter. Visits will probably begin in February, and the fee will be raised to $100. Pet owners will be responsible for making their own arrangements with ARL to have their pets neutered /spayed. Shelter volunteers should advise adopters of the new SW policy. Ana will suggest Mansfield Animal Hospital as an alternate location that offers reduced cost S/N surgery. Ana will revise the S/N handout to reflect the changes, and send a general email to volunteers to advise them of the new policy. The shelter will continue to collect a $30 S/N deposit. Adopters are required by law to have their animals altered when the pets reach six months of age. If animals are six months or older at the time of adoption, adopters are required to have the pets neutered within thirty days of adoption. If adopters don't comply within the designated time, the S/N deposit will not be refunded. Page I of 3 Fostered Cats • Siam — fostered by Sharon. Siam has three good applications, and will probably be adopted from Sharon's home. • Veronica — fostered by Robyn Drainville. Robyn thinks her mother might adopt Veronica. • Cuddles — fostered by Justine. Very shy, but eating better. •Nikki — fostered by Emilie. Medication/Special Food Meeko — Her thyroid levels have improved to the point that she needs only %a pill twice a day, but since that size is difficult for volunteer to cut, Ana suggested %2 pill once a day. Carol and Chuck volunteered to take inventory, every Sunday morning, of the medicine and special food required so that supplies don't run too low before they can be refilled. Fees/Paperwork Jeff requested that Stray /Surrender forms and medical records for foster kittens be supplied by foster moms as soon as the animals go to a foster home, not eight weeks later when they are returned to the shelter. He would also like to see information provided on the S/S forms about kittens' mothers' names and siblings' names. Fines/Fees for stray dogs need to be collected. Mason was picked up without proper fees being charged. Chuck suggested that a MSF Cash form be attached to S/S forms for dogs to remind volunteers of the fees to be collected. Possible fees could be highlighted on the MSF form. Celebration of Animals Sharon reminded everyone that the Celebration of Animals is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. l Ph, with a rain date of Sept. 25th. Vanessa will check with the high school art department to see if they would be willing to paint the Celebration sign this year. Foxboro ACO Jeff reported that the Foxboro Animal Control Officer has requested that stray Foxboro dogs be boarded at Mansfield Shelter for a daily fee of $15. Foxboro would also cover medical expenses for the dogs, and supervise their adoption. Jeff will present the issue to the Mansfield Town Manager and Selectmen. Pet Rescue Site Contest Sharon would like to place an ad in local papers, encouraging people to click daily to win $1,000 for the shelter. Mary suggested adding a sentence about the contest to the text that appears in the papers under the Pet of the Week photo, which already directs people to the shelter website. Page 2 of 3
