The Animal Welfare Committee meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m. at Mansfield Airport.
Carol Kesel was asked to take minutes due to Mary Andrews' absence.
Approve Minutes
Motion: To approve minutes from July 19, 2012. Passes.
Foster Animal Report
• Foster kittens with ringworm have had second test and if they pass will be ready for adoption in
about 2 weeks.
• Ulysses is doing fine after surgery and may be ready for adoption soon.
ACO Report
• State laws changes were passed in August. Jeff has not completely gone through them but there
are a couple that will impact the shelter.
• Holding period on strays is now a minimum of 7 days. A discussion was had regarding
changing the shelter policy regarding shays but it was determined to keep it at 10 days
for now.
• The mhlimum deposit for spay /neuter has been increased to $40. The shelter policy will
have to be changed to conform with the new law.
• Ricco will be taken to the vet for senior panel and vaccinations. If Jeff cannot get him in and
out of the van easily, Erika will c9pie to the shelter Monday to see him.
• Discussion was had regarding sq ffral lof the cats at the shelter, Leslie notified the committee
that Westfield Cat Shelter has Treed to take Rascal and work on socializing him.
Veterinary
• No new medical issues were identified,

Miscellaneous
• Erika has finished her research for the animal care lectures that she plans to present to shelter
volunteers. The lectures will be scheduled after the Celebration.
• Jeff was asked to change the air filters and look at blocking the vent in the infirmary to help stop
the spread of ringworm.
