Joint workshop of Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee

Present: Charlene Lavin, James Lazzara, Mike Sams & Jack Goldberg, all Selectmen and
John D'Agostino
Chairman Gazzolo called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m.
Discussed ways in which there would be increased communication between Selectmen and
fincom. Selectmen decided Chairman McCue would serve as the principal link to fincom.
Discussed the merits of having the fincom review the Light Dept. budget and related process.
The Selectmen voted unanimously to direct the fincom to review the budget of the Light
Dept just as they do with all other departmental budgets. The fincom will constitute a
subcommittee to undertake this effort.
Chairman Gazzolo requested that fincom be included earlier in the process governing
warrants presented at town meetings. Selectmen agreed.
Chairman Gazzolo informed the Selectmen that it was his intention to appoint a
subcommittee to develop a 5 -year forecast for the Town.
Discussed the importance of having talks with the unions about employee contributions for
health insurance.
On a motion that was duly made and seconded, it was:
VOTED (unanimously): to adjourn the meeting at 9:30pm
