Present: Jess Aptowitz, Jack Goldberg, Charlene Lavin, Jim Lazzara, Michael Sams
Also in attendance: John D'Agostino, Bea Kearney, Steve Maccafrie, Lou Amoruso
Vice Chairman Lavin called the meeting to order at 7:10 P.M.
The premise of this meeting was to have those departments on the municipal side of the
town that has asked for personnel increases to present their cases. These departments
were the police, fire, dpw, public buildings, MIS, library, COA and Inspector of
Buildings. In summary, the chief of police as well as the chief of fire will prepare a 10-
year snapshot of personnel for submission to the Town manager and FINCOM. In
addition, as for the fire dept., a conversation was held regarding the feasibility of starting
a call fie department with volunteers from the town of Mansfield. DPW will prepare for
us an analysis of the cost/man hour of mechanical work at the shop and compare that to
the outsourcing cost. Public Buildings will do a similar analysis. MIS will prepare an
analysis of the technical dollars spent on the school's Website. Library will re calculate
thdit numbers in accordance with the state's guidelines and resubmit them ASAP. COA is
asking for a' /2 time outreach worker. Building department is asking for a' /2 person as
Well. All of the above personnel issues will be discussed in detail when the fmcom
subcommittees each meet with each department head when their entire budget is
reviewed in detail.
On a motion that was duly made and seconded, it was
Voted (6 -0) to accept the minutes of the January 13, 2005 meeting.
