Presiding: Charlene Lavin
Present: Jess Aptowitz, Greg Arnold, Jack Goldberg, Jim Lazzara, and Mike SaTj ; I
Vice Chairman Lavin called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
FINCOM will ask the selectman, school committee, John D'Agostino and John Moretti
to join us in open session on March 10`s to discuss union contracts on an ongoing basis.
Jess will send out a memo to all parties with an agenda for this meeting.
Jim Lazzara reported back to FINCOM on his budget meeting with all public works
departments. Jim had prepared a summary sheet of line items that had large fluctuations
from prior budgets and is awaiting answers to some questions, including, but not limited
to, a schedule of all vehicles, HVAC new hire, proposed managers salary increase of
9.8 %.
Jack reported back to FINCOM on his and Jess' meeting with the Chiefs of police and
Fire. Police is looking to secure 6 vehicles, 3 new personnel, while fire is looking to add
two personnel. Both departments have been asked to prepare a worksheet for the past
several years showing numbers of calls, types of calls etc...
As of this meeting date, the combined municipal/school budget shortfall stands at approx.
5.3 million dollars per Bea. FINCOM will ask Bea to provide us with a periodic update
on where things stand with the budget. FINCOM will discuss at their next meeting the
possibility of sending both the municipal and school side a memo asking them to start
making cuts to help bring the 2006 budget into balance.
Mike and Charlene plan on meeting again with the schools on their budgets.

3 -0 to accept the minutes of February 22, 2005
4 -0 to accept the minutes of February 24, 2005
