OTHER BUSINESS
-- Dick Lewis received several phone calls regarding activity being carried
out by Karl Clemmey on Perkins Avenue. Clearing and grading had occurred
adjacent to a pond which shows up on local zoning maps. Dick asked Mr.
Clemmey to install hay bales and informed him of his obligation to file such
work with the Conservation Commission.
Mr. Daniel Ryan, an abutter, voiced concern with regard to Mr. Clemmey's
l alteration of a bowl - shaped area which typically held 2 -3 feet of water. 'Bay
Colony will be doing surveying work on the area, but will have trouble
determining the pre- existing conditions. Commissioner Rhoads raised the
possibility of getting Transportation Center aerial photos of the area.
- Riverside Drive area. Now that work on Cabot Pond has been completed,
Dick Lewis recommends sending a form letter to the homeowners in the area
reminding them that any clearing, grading, landscaping etc. requires a filing
with the Commission. One resident has already done substantial work, and a
specific letter will be sent requesting that he contact the Agent or the
Commission.
-- Clean Lakes Program - still awaiting a response.
-- Life Care. A preliminary site plan has been filed with the Planning
Board. Three wetland crossings are currently proposed, which Dick Lewis feels
will have the effect of isolating and eliminating these wetlands. He will
attend the Planning Board meeting and express the Commission's concerns
regarding the number of crossings and the habitat alterations.
Short and long term goals for Conservation Agent /Environmental Planner.
1. Take advantage of full time hours to catch up on loose ends.
2. Open Space plan by January or February, then Self -Help program
applications.
3. Possible pursue the use of student interns to collect data /assist in
projects. Comm. Rhoads will contact a member of the Walpole
Conservation Commission to generate ideas.

advocated action towards stronger groundwater protection.
6. Commissioners also mentioned the need for additional efforts towards
educating the public, both adults and children.
-- Commissioner Ouellette again urged that the town authorities be reminded
of the need for action on the Maple Park bath house. Dick Lewis will write a
follow -up memo.
-- Dick Lewis noted that Chapter 202 of the Acts of 1988 mentions that the
filing fees and payments to the State will be undergoing change. The effects
of the change are not yet clear.
