Mr. Lewis will discuss this issue with the Department of Public Works and residents involved. Al Slaney, Oak Street, stated that the Zoning Board explained the size and location of the sign. Mildred Crowley, 135 Oak Street, a 35 year resident, felt that there would be accidents if the plan was followed. A safety survey has been done by the Police Department and shows fewer accidents. They did make a suggestion to lower the speed limit. An elderly resident in the area noted that the boulders would make it difficult for her to enter /exit her land. Maureen Mahana wanted to know what process will be used to notify residents when hunting season is taking place. She was told that information will be placed at the Trail Head sign. Enforcement is always an issue. One enforcement option dicussed was Environmental Police or Conservation Commission constables. The locking and unlocking of the gate could be one responsibility of a Constable. Duties of the Constables will be discussed with the Police Chief. Citizens feel that the proposed parking exacerbates safety problem. The other issue is the guardrail, metal versus wood. Location of guardrail will be discussed with Dan Clifford.
