6. Old Business
7. New Business
a. Smoking Variance: Member Leonard was concerned about continuing the
smoking variance issued to Honey Dew Donuts on Copeland Drive a couple years ago. He is
specifically concerned about the inadequacy of the ventilation system that should be removing
the smoke from the smoking section at the counter. This variance was granted because the
owner did not want to go through the expense of a smoke eater. He may be in non-
compliance.
MOTION: To invite owners of Honey Dew Donuts, Copeland Drive,
to future meeting to review and discuss the practicality of continuing
the smoking variance granted by the Board of Health in 1993.
Leonard/Forget. 2 -2. Dr. Martin abstained. VOTED
Member Forget had a concern with the procedure in the motion. He wanted to give the
owner opportunity to justify how the ventilation system is working and time to correct it if it
is failing. Member Leonard replied that the motion is simply an invitation for the owner to
come to a meeting to discuss it.
MOTION: To review the BOH Regulation Affecting Smoking and the
Sale, Vending and Distribution of Tobacco specific to any
variances that have been issued in the past.
Kowalczyk/Forget. All in favor. VOTED
