CALL TO ORDER at 7:05PM by Chairman Leonard, Town Hall, 3`d Floor. This item was taken out of order since Mr. Giangarra had to leave at 7 :30 PM. Air Conditioner @ Town Hall: Mr. Calhoun and Tony Souza, abuttors at 38 Union St., were also present for discussion. Member Giangarra reviewed the sound report written by Copeland Industries. He said that low frequencies travel through rock and gravel quite easily. The motor is fimctioning at 60 hertz/minute. He feels that if the sound levels were reduced to a level below 54db, then it should not be offensive to the abuttors. May not have to add on to the enclosure around the a/c unit to achieve this sound reduction. The BOH is not responsible for designing the method to reduce the db levels. Member Giangarra said that the 54db level is somewhat comparable to a passing vehicle. Mr. Calhoun responded that the fans make a lot of noise, too. Mr. Souza asked that on a weekday holiday when the Town Hall is closed, the a/c be turned off. MOTION: To request the Town Manager to hire an engineer or appropriate person to reduce the sound levels to below 54db at any frequency. Giangarra/Jones. 4 -0 VOTED 2. CONSENT AGENDA a.
