6. Old Business
Pertaining to "hole" on property at 340 Mill Street; owner, Ms. Nijah Chinn has
had septic tank pumped and is in process of repairing septic system.
7. New Business
Ground water meeting attended by Health Agent Leite and Don Steele - - appeared
to be sales pitch, however, there were a few good points pertaining to ground
water. Perhaps some of these points could be applied by our Board. Can do more
by projected chemicals going into ground water.
Discussion ensued pertaining to Assembly of God, Eric Road.
Don Steele felt perhaps there might be some "broader powers" the Board could have.
Chairman Tartufo spoke with Joe Campo who suggested uses of computer for Board, i.e.
peres, septic systems, how often pumped, dates of, installer, definitive plans,
addresses, etc. Computerization should be implemented as soon as possible.
Proposal and suggestion only - "Failure of Septic System" presented to Board.
Chairman Tartufo felt k3 lanquage should be stronger.
Chairman Tartufo: "If just one component fails, is whole system considered
failed, or does just the failed component to be repaired ?"
Health Agent Leite: "Repair failed component -- this situation does not consti-
tute a failed system."
Chairman Tartufo: "Time sequence, problem once in 30 days, what if pumped twice
in 30 days ?" "Is there enough room for a "Margin of Error "?
Health Agent Leite: "Has to be used judiciously."
Chairman Tartufo then suggested serious review by all members of the Board.
Residents of Stearns Avenue felt this was a good step in the right direction.
Motion: To adjourn Board of Health Meeting at 9:55 P.M.
