re: Waste Motor Oil Disposal.
Board of Health -2-
January 19, 1989
Mass. General Laws Ch. 21, S52A regulates the sale and disposal of motor oil.
Member Fontanini stated that illegal disposal of oil (and car batteries) is a
major problem in Town. Should this Board of Health (like Foxboro's) enforce
this law?
Health Agent replied that there are other methods of controlling this illegal
disposal. 1. Holding timely household hazardous cleanup days; 2. igloo, located
at highway garage for people to dispose of oil; 3. enforcing State law.
Agent will prepare an action plan for 1989 to control illegal dumping of such
hazardous wastes, i.e., oil, antifreeze, batteries, etc. .A letter will also
be prepared to be sent to any store that sells motor oil to make them aware of
MGL 21, S52A.
