Chairman Martin suggested the following questions be addressed: (1) Will Mansfield move forward with the grant? (2) If so, procedures for hiring new coordinator? (3) If so, a meeting with Sarah Sabourin, Mass. Tobacco Control Program, is necessary, along with the other three NEMS boards. The State is the overseeing body and wants to talk with us as far as how to proceed, Chairman said. Chair advised that qualifications, salary, where to advertise must be decided. Mans. BOH interviews and hires Program Director, and a revote should be taken to remove Mans. Health Agent from overseeing position. Member Leonard commented that the Health Agent's role is only on an interim basis -45 days. Member Forget commented that the Board recognized a problem, but now that the Program. Coordinator has resigned, this begins a clean slate; Health Agent's involvement is no longer necessary. We must formulate policy and guidelines in order to proceed successfully. Chair said that the Board's responsibility is to hire Program Director, along with the three other reps in the NEMS program. Mansfield Board of Health hires, meets monthly to establish policy and guidelines and evaluate program coordinator's efforts. MOTION: To remove Health Agent's oversight of Program Coordinator.
