Town Counsel's letter of November 17, 1987 concerning Conflict of Interest
in connection with his mother serving as his Committee secretary. He said
he would like to have the matter resolved totally or he will submit his
resignation as of tonight. Discussion followed; one point brought out was
that if someone other than Steve signs the payroll vouchers for his mother,
the Board can solve the problem. Selectman D'Onofrio suggested that Steve
contact Town Counsel himself so that Town Counsel will have all the facts
which he perhaps did not have when he wrote the letter to Chairman Harring-
ton.

Paul had asked for a few minutes to familiarize the Board with GATRA's pro-

some other towns do. Paul reviewed information previously supplied and ad-
vised the Board that there will be a public hearing on the proposed new
rates January 27th, in Attleboro. He feels the proposed new rate of $1.00
per one -way trip within the town and $2.00 per one -way trip for trips greater
than 10 miles in length.is.too. hi.gh and-.had a petition which he asked the

Town Accountant Interviews
Chairman Harrington advised the Board members that he, with the Town Manager
and former Town Accountant, Barbara Hagg, had interviewed five applicants
for the Town Accountant position last Saturday. He had asked two to meet
with the Board tonight, which he introduced. Chairman Harrington said he
had asked Barbara Hagg to be present for the interviews feeling she could
answer questions from the applicants more fully than he or Tom could. The
Chairman went on to say there would be a Massachusetts accounting course at
Bentley College beginning in two weeks and it is hoped that the Board would
support the appointed Accountant attending the course with the Town paying
for it. The Chairman also said that Terry Deule (present Accountant) feels
it would be helpful for the Town Accountant to attend at least one Board
meeting per month.
The Board members asked each applicant a few questions concerning their
skills and background. At the end Selectman Mahana expressed appreciation
to them both for their willingness to come out tonight and subject themselves
to TV coverage.
