Whitman & Howard - Water Quality Present were Paul Cote, Larry Gilmartin, Bud Cooney, Joe Zeneski and Bob Morrison to discuss water quality and the lime injection program. Mr. Zeneski went over a chronology on previous steps taken. There was some concern on the addition of chemicals to the water. It was noted that the lime injection is the safest way to treat the water. The main problem is not from the well water, but water in the copper pipes. The water is soft and aggressive /corrosive because of low Ph, high CO2, low calcium content, low solids and low alkalidity. The injection of lime will greatly reduce the aggressiveness of the water. There was some discussion on toxicity levels. The safe level is 1.0 mpl. Samples of standing water ranged from 4.0 to 6 -7.0. * MOTION: That we move as fast as possible on lime injection program. D'Onofrio /Wills VOTED: 5 -0. Citizens present voiced their concern for water quality and what the effects might have on them. It was also asked if the water could be tested for other materials other than copper.
