Red Button - Surplus Equipment
Mr. Button was in to discuss surplus military equipment for Civil Defense.
Back in 1972 the Town received three trucks and in 1973 we received one
truck. Two are in running condition, one at the airport and one behind
the highway garage. The one behind the highway garage is being given.to
Attleboro Civil Defense from the State. One was scrapped, and the fourth
truck was sold, but described as surplus equipment in 1976. It went out
for bid and was advertised as a GHC truck chassis in August, 1976. Mr.
Button had a summary of the bids and it was awarded to Robert Silvia of
Brockton for $101.24. A letter was sent to him to pay the amount and he
had a copy of the bill of sale. It was paid for in October, 1976. There
were no serial numbers on the bill of sale for the truck. The previous
Board of Selectmen authorized the sale of the truck. Remaining in service
is the truck at the highway garage, truck at airport an M -37 and a car.
